Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has promised to assist youths realise their dreams and achieve their potentials.
The governor made this assertion at the official opening of a training programme titled “Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, District 9110, Nigeria (RYLA 2020) with the theme: “Tomorrow’s Leaders begin with Today’s Opportunities” at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu, who said he was so burdened by the situation of youths, said he would set a day aside to physically meet with them before the end of this quarter on a day tagged: “A Day With Mr. Governor”.
He added that on that day, the youths would be given the opportunity to tell his government what it has not been doing well, give ideas of what should be done that would make their life better.
The governor, who was represented at the occasion by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Olusegun Dawodu, assured youths of the state government’s effort to make them comfortable, which he said, had prompted government to provide many youth centres where various vocations, including ICT facilities, would be provided for free.
He urged them to engage themselves profitably in the leadership training being provided by the Rotary International and aspire to be visionary leaders with integrity.
“Be resolved to be strong leaders because what the country needs now are strong and courageous leaders,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu, who advised the youths to resist any act of violence, said his government would not relent in providing necessary infrastructure in the state.
