Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has issued a rallying cry to youths across the state to embrace the Nigerian Army’s ongoing recruiting drive and enlist in the military.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Olumuyiwa Ojelabi from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, the governor highlighted numerous options in today’s military service.
Officially represented by the State Government’s Secretary, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, the governor made the call during stakeholder engagement at the palace of the Olofin of Isheri Olofin.
Sanwo-Olu hinted that the Army offers vast opportunities beyond the battlefield, with technology, education, and career development now forming integral parts of service life.
The governor noted that the participation of Lagos indigenes in the army would, in no small measure, help in the security architecture of the nation.
He described the Nigerian Army as a symbol of the nation’s resilience, valour, and indomitable spirit. Sanwo-Olu, therefore, encouraged the potential recruits to remain steadfast in their dedication and commitment to the nation.
“Enlisting in the military not only allows one to serve the nation with pride but also opens doors to professional training in fields such as law, medicine, and aeronautics,” Sanwo-Olu noted.
He reiterated the state’s commitment to offer the needed support to qualified candidates from Lagos, calling on them to bear in mind that registration for the 89 Regular Recruits Intake for Trades and Non-Tradesmen/Women will close on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
