For the second time in less than a week, the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, has restated his commitment and loyalty to his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Media reports were rife that Saraki had defected to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) after he attended the party’s senate caucus meeting on Wednesday.

But Saraki’s media aide, Bamikole Omishore, in a statement said the reports were “entirely untrue as the Senate President stands committed to the APC; a party that he helped midwife and worked for its victory in the 2015 elections.”

He said Saraki’s presence at the PDP caucus meeting was in his official capacity as the Senate President and chairman, National Assembly.

“He attended the end of session event of the PDP caucus yesterday evening and spent only 30 minutes before leaving the members to continue with the event.

“The Senate President would like to assure every Nigerian that he is committed to the APC-led government and appreciates the confidence reposed in him and the APC during the 2015 General Elections.”

Omishore, on Monday, July 18, had defended his boss’s loyalty to APC, noting that the Senate President was committed to championing the ideals of the party.

It won’t be news to me, if I wake up in the morning and news says saraki has defected to pdp finally. We expect such as an apc he wasn’t loyal to the party non is he loyal right now even though he said he loyal, which I don’t think he is.

He is testing the ground, this has been the plan from day one. The APC leaders must act to get rid of Saraki, those of us who voted them to power did not bargain for a criminal like Saraki to be calling the shots at the national assembly.

His presence at the PDP meeting is not out of place. We should overlook party politics to see him as a national leader. Politics does not make friends enemies. Friends must interact and wine together, party affiliations not withstanding. However, if he as a Nigerian who is free to associate with whomever he wills thinks his interest is better protected elsewhere, so be it. The saying of my people has universal applicability: if a man eats from two pots of soup, he will be in a better position to say which is better.

Saraki is a political jobber, with loyalty to nobody but himself. He betrayed his biological father and the man never came out of shock till he died. Saraki is just a mole in APC

No news here. Saraki has been PDP since he brokered a deal with them that produced Ekweremandu as his deputy. He is only cooling off now because of his numerous cases in court but will make his ambitions know before 2019 when the PDP would have nominated him as their presidential candidate!

    THOU PROTESTETH TOO MUCH!!

Saraki is PDP and PDP is saraki.
Anybody who ever thought he was a member of the APC other than for electoral reasons and as a ladder to get hwere he is today, must have been born only YESTERDAY.
Apart from helping Buhari to win Kwara, and as a result carrying APC members along to vote him in as Senate President, show me where he had ever identifies with APC.
As a chameleon, he is a great master.
As a man of honor., laying his cards..ALL his cards..on the table ….GIVE ME A BREAK

Mr Senate President, please make it official for we all know that you are a PDP man in APC garb. If and when you defect it would have been stale news.

Dr Saraki will be welcomed and infact he is most welcome to the PDP. A party he helped build from the genesis. PDP has made saraki and saraki knows as a fact that the PDP has made him. Furthermore, if destiny has placed saraki to be President of the federal republic of nigeria tomorrow he can only achieve this on the PDP’s platform, APC cant and wont even contemplate nor tolerate nor want to hear of that kind of a dream (day or night) from him.

Mr Ekpeyong, We Nigerians are also waiting for the day that Saraki will defect back to PDP, it will be no news, in a civilized society, saraki will not be the president of Senate, you know it yourself, but just because it is a jungle called Nigeria, where things like that happen. Saraki becoming the president of Nigeria, you must be day dreaming.

Why not if it comes to that folks, when the provision in the Constitution is left still open-ended in spite of the amendment going on; tells a lot of the many things going wrong in Nigeria which, unless whoever is advising knows what he/ she is doing you’ll still be struggling in Nigeria – here today and gone tomorrow! Close all loopholes for such defections or carpet crossing just as you are trying to do with ‘your corruption’ and for the first time let us see if Nigerian politicians would look principled persons – at least by law since you can not obtain this through their own good will or self discipline as others do in organised economies! In all the nations of the World if you decide to leave your party under whose platform you were voted (obtained your votes cast in elections) for another party the constitutional thing is to go for a new mandated to be arranged by INEC backed by the Judiciary but it seems in Nigeria Judiciary joins INEC in aiding and abetting the impropriety in this section of the Constitution – you then wonder who do you complain to, folks!
