The Catholic Bishop of Oyo Diocese, Most Revd. Emmanuel Badejo, has tasked all political leaders to use the occasion of Christmas to save people from trouble and suffering and emulate Jesus Christ, who came to save lives and died for humanity.

Badejo, who stated this in his goodwill message to Christians and all who celebrate the season, lamented that political leaders are not doing enough to salvage lives, adding that the world and Nigeria should be relieved of selfish politicians and be endowed with Christ-like statesmen.

The cleric, who also called on Christians to help the less privileged, said they could not wish merry Christmas to hungry people, or make merry without helping people who are suffering.

Also, the Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins, has admonished Nigerians to remain positive and continue to contribute their quotas towards ensuring that the country surmount its current challenges and becomes great again.

In his Christmas message, signed by Director of Social Communications, Rev. Fr. Anthony Godonu, Martins said that God has a special love for Nigeria and Nigerians, hence they must never be afraid to work towards actualising the country’s dream.

He said Nigerians should always focus on the saving grace of God who through His son, Jesus Christ, has come at Christmas to redeem mankind from sin and bring them to eternal life.

This grace, he averred, is always available for God’s children, irrespective of religion, tribe or creed.

Martins also condoled with the families of over a hundred people who were recently killed in the military drone mishap in Tundun Biri in the Igabi Council, Kaduna State.

He prayed to God for quick recovery of the injured and called on the military authorities to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident and to ensure such an unfortunate incident does not happen again.
