Security agencies launch joint operations for yuletide season in Taraba
The Taraba State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, said it has initiated comprehensive security measures across the state.
The initiative was announced yesterday in Jalingo, the state capital by the Commissioner of Police, Ukachi P. Opara, through the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) ACP Yakubu Bala Itse.
The joint security teams, comprising personnel from the Police, Military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Immigration, Correctional Services, Department of State Services, and Customs have been deployed across the state’s senatorial districts.
The team which will be working alongside local vigilantes, according to the commissioner, will be conducting confidence-building patrols, show-of-force operations, intelligence-led initiatives, and enhanced night patrols to deter criminal activities and ensure a peaceful festive season.
Key patrol routes, as listed out by him, include the Zing-Jalingo to Wukari highway, Jalingo-Lau, Jalingo-Ardo Kola, and the Bali to Sardauna highway.
Additionally, the Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, and Police Traffic Wardens, he said, have been strategically positioned at worship centers to manage traffic flow and ensure public safety.
Urging the deployed personnel to maintain professionalism and respect for human rights during operations, he emphasised the importance of visible policing and proactive measures to prevent security breaches.
He encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via the emergency line 08030972376 to help maintain safety throughout the season.
