Security agents tasked to probe death of online journalist in Ilorin

Yusuf Mubaarak
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has tasked relevant security agencies in the state to investigate the mysterious death of 27-year-old online journalist, Yusuf Mubaarak, who was declared missing on Wednesday and later found dead on Saturday at Unity Road Area of the city.
His remains were committed to mother earth on Saturday evening in his home state of Ilorin, amid tears from friends, associates and acquaintances who were present.
The Governor, through his press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the deceased family and friends, assuring that the incident would be thoroughly investigated.
AbdulRazaq, while condemning perpetrators, demanded immediate and thorough investigation into Mubaarak’s death, and the need to arrest and bring his assailants to justice.
He said: “No resources should be spared to get justice for Mubaarak and his family. We charge law enforcement agencies to cast their nets as wide as possible to answer all questions around his painful death.”
Also, former governor Bukola Saraki has called for investigations into the death of the budding journalist.
Saraki said: “I am devastated to learn that Yusuf Mubarak, who was declared missing last Wednesday, was found dead. Another promising young life has been cut short by the mindless violence perpetrated by nefarious individuals.
“Such losses must continue to serve as a constant reminder that we have to urgently address the security challenges in our state and across the nation. We must do everything to protect our young people.”
