Security operatives foil kidnap attempt in Kaduna

• Arrest Six Bandits, Recover Firearms

Security operatives in Kaduna have foiled an attempted kidnap by bandits, while six kidnappers were arrested with arms and ammunition recovered.
The Kaduna Police Command, in a statement on Friday, said that in continuation of the command’s efforts to crackdown on crime and criminality within the state and its environs, the security operatives busted attempted kidnap.

The spokesman of the Police, DSP Mansir Hassan, said: “On February 22, 2025, at about 12:53hrs, a resident of Ungwan Ninzom, Jagindi Tasha Village, in Jema’a Local Council of Kaduna State, reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Kafanchan, that unknown persons had criminally trespassed into his residence and kidnapped his son, one Hussaini Ibrahim.”

He disclosed that upon receipt of the distress report, a team of police operatives was immediately mobilised to the scene, adding that “they pursued and trailed the suspects to no avail.”

According to Hassan, in a follow-up development, on February 24, 2025, the victim, Hussaini Ibrahim, was successfully rescued from a nearby bush. He was found with a gunshot wound on his leg, inflicted by the kidnappers.

“The victim was immediately rescued and rushed to a nearby clinic for medical attention and later reunited with his family,” he added.Hassan explained that ” four suspects were arrested, namely Umar Yusuf Jabiri, 30 years old, of Jagindi Tasha; Buhari Muhammad, a.k.a. ‘General,’ 31 years of Bayya village; Ahmadu Nasiru, 51 years old, of Gidan Waya; and Zakari Saleh, 50 years old, also of Gidan Waya.”

Besides, items recovered from the suspects included one AK-47 rifle English type and three fabricated AK-47 rifles.

Hassan said: “Investigation is ongoing to get other criminals arrested and will soon be prosecuted.”

He also revealed that on July 23, 2025, at about 1800hrs, acting on credible intelligence, a team of detectives led by the Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, CSP Sani Zuntu, intercepted a suspicious waybill in Kaduna.

“The consignment, transported from Jos and heading to Gusau, Zamfara State contained a fabricated AK-47 rifle concealed in a sack. The operatives followed-up and arrested two suspects in Gusau who had arrived to receive the illegal firearm.

“The suspects have been identified as
Abdulmumin Sani, Naziru Musa and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations,” Hassan said.

The police spokesman said that “the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the gallantry and professionalism of the operatives involved and reassured residents of Kaduna State that the Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.”
