The Senate Committee on Army, led by Senator Abdulaziz Yar’adua, has lauded the Nigerian Army for its bravery and professionalism following the successful clearance of a major insurgent camp in Mai-Saleh, on the Borno-Yobe border, on January 25, 2025.

In a statement issued on Monday, the committee praised the troops for neutralizing over 70 terrorists, including three high-ranking commanders, during the operation, which it described as a “remarkable milestone” in the fight against terrorism.

“We are immensely proud of the Nigerian Army for their exceptional resilience and dedication. This victory is a testament to their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation,” Yar’adua said.

The committee extended heartfelt condolences to the families of fallen soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the operation.

“Their bravery and selflessness will never be forgotten, and the nation remains eternally grateful for their service,” the statement read.

While commending the progress made, Yar’adua called on the federal government to prioritize the needs of the Army by providing necessary funding and support.

He also urged Nigerians to unite in backing the military’s efforts to restore peace and stability.

“This is a time to rally behind our troops, to boost their morale, and ensure they have the resources needed to bring an end to terrorism in Nigeria,” he added.

The Senate Committee reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the welfare of the military, stressing that with continued support, the Army will overcome the insurgency and secure a safer future for the nation.
