THE celebration over the defeat of terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria might be short lived if efforts are not made to curtail fresh signs of their resurgence.
This was the submission of Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, who has raised the alarm over the infiltration of Taraba State by insurgents.
Bwacha, who represents Taraba South Senatorial District, told the Senate in plenary that the terrorists being flushed out from Adamawa State were relocating to Taraba in large numbers.
He said the insurgents who disguised as herdsmen were being transported to Taraba State in trailers.
Bwacha said that raising the alarm over the movement of the terrorists into Taraba became necessary in order to alert the Federal Government to take immediate action to prevent unsavory consequences.
He said that the insurgents could be seen mostly in the central area of the state. He said, “The Federal Government and security agencies should know that they may have another war to fight in Taraba if nothing is done urgently to halt the regrouping of these insurgents in Taraba State.”
Bwacha said that he does not know if the insurgents come into the country from Chad or Niger Republic.
He said that taking preventive action against the infiltrators is imperative especially now that Boko Haram insurgents were being chased out of the country.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki said that Bwacha informed him of his intention to raise the issue under Personal Explanation Provision in their order book.
Saraki, who did not allow any debate on the issue raised by Bwacha, said that the Senate had taken note of the issue.
