Senior Staff Association hails Abdul-Aziz’s reappointment as TCN hoss

Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN)

The Senior Staff Association of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has applauded the reappointment of Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdul-Aziz as Managing Director, citing his track record of reform-driven leadership and commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s power transmission network.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the association’s representative, Mr. Solomon Kigbo, said Abdul-Aziz’s return signals continuity in ongoing reforms within the power sector, particularly in addressing long-standing challenges in electricity transmission.

According to Kigbo, TCN has made notable gains in expanding and modernizing the national grid despite increasing pressure from rising energy demands and infrastructural limitations.
“Under his leadership, the company has shown resilience and a clear sense of direction.

Investments in transmission infrastructure and technology upgrades are gradually improving grid stability and efficiency,” he said.
He noted that ongoing projects, including the rehabilitation of aging facilities and the construction of new transmission lines, are critical steps toward bridging Nigeria’s electricity gap.

Public affairs analyst, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, also commended the management for prioritizing human capital development, describing it as a key driver of the company’s progress.

“A skilled and motivated workforce is essential for sustaining reforms in such a technical sector. TCN’s emphasis on training and capacity building has significantly improved operational performance,” he said.

Abdullahi added that the company’s efforts align with broader national objectives of ensuring reliable electricity supply to homes, industries, and essential services.

Similarly, Barrister Abubakar Usman of the Nigeria Youth Patriotic Front praised TCN’s adoption of global best practices and modern technologies, noting that these measures have enhanced monitoring systems and overall grid management.

He described Abdul-Aziz as a competent leader whose reappointment reflects confidence in his ability to consolidate gains and drive further improvements in the sector.

Meanwhile, Comrade Williams Asukwo, Chairman of the Nigerian Project Initiative, called on stakeholders to rally behind the TCN leadership, urging critics to embrace constructive engagement in the interest of national development.

“Progress in the power sector requires collective responsibility. Support and collaboration will go a long way in building a stable and efficient electricity network,” he said.

The reappointment of Abdul-Aziz is widely seen as a strategic move aimed at sustaining ongoing reforms and strengthening the backbone of Nigeria’s electricity transmission system.
