The senator representing Kano Central in the National Assembly, Ibrahim Shekarau; former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali and Campaign Director of erstwhile President Goodluck Jonathan, Mansur Ahmed, have filed a no-case submission in the alleged N950 million fraud suit filed against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

They are standing trial on a six count-charge of conspiracy and money laundering.According to the prosecution, the money was allegedly given to the defendants by one-time Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, for election campaign in the North-West.

In the charges, the anti-graft agency insisted that the funds in question were proceeds of unlawful earnings from the treasury. While the prosecution did not only oppose the application, it also urged the court to dismiss it to allow the defendants open their defence. Consequently, Justice Lewis Allagoa adjourned to September 20, 2019 for ruling.
