Sick Nollywood actress, Jumoke George, reveals six years of homelessness, health struggles

Veteran Nollywood actress, Jumoke George, has shared the emotional details of her life’s hardships, revealing how she has been living in a church for the past six years after being evicted due to unaffordable rent and battling serious health issues.

In a tearful interview on the TalkToB show, hosted by fellow actress Abiola Adebayo, Jumoke spoke candidly about her struggles with illness, homelessness, and the ongoing search for her missing daughter.

“My health began to deteriorate earlier this year, and that’s why I had to cancel some acting jobs,” Jumoke said. “I’ve been working, but not as frequently. Sometimes, it could be once in three to four months.”

She explained that she had to borrow money to refund someone who had already paid her for a project that she couldn’t complete due to her health.

In a heartbreaking revelation, Jumoke shared that she had been living in a church for the past six years.

“The house rent became high, and I couldn’t afford it anymore. The landlord told me to leave. I begged, but what could I do?”

She explained how the church leader gave her a small room to stay in, which she kept a secret from most people due to her embarrassment.

“It’s where I sleep, where I put my mattress on the floor,” she said, visibly emotional. “Mummy church has been trying. She buys me drugs and prepares herbs for me.”

Jumoke also spoke about her first child, Adeola, who has been missing for four years. “Adeola was living with my mother in Ibadan, and one day my mother called to say that she couldn’t find her. Adeola had told her that she was coming to meet me in Lagos, but I never saw her,” the actress recalled.

She shared that Adeola later called her from a strange number, asking for forgiveness and mentioning that she had traveled with friends in search of a better life.

“Since then, I haven’t heard anything from her. I’m the one taking care of her children,” Jumoke added.

Her son, Ife, has also been a source of support. Jumoke revealed that Ife has borrowed nearly ₦2 million to help with her medical treatment and daily needs. “He has been trying. I’m worried about him; I don’t want him to lose his job. He’s been doing his best to take care of me and searching for his sister,” she said.

The actress concluded the interview with an emotional plea for prayers. “I am tired. I don’t know if it’s spiritual or not, but please pray for me. I’ve tried everything I can. I’ve been fasting and praying. Pain is not good, and I need help,” she said. Jumoke appealed for support, not just in sympathy, but in prayers as she continues to face these overwhelming challenges.
