Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has received three international awards at the 2025 Global Power Forum in New York, held alongside the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
In a statement issued on Friday in Awka, the Governor’s Press Secretary, Mr Christian Aburime, said Soludo was honoured with the African Public Service Excellence Award, the African Governor of the Year Award, and a Certificate of Special Recognition from the House of Representatives of South Carolina, USA.
Aburime explained that the recognition underscored Soludo’s leadership credentials and Anambra’s rising profile on the global stage.
“The South Carolina House of Representatives commended Gov. Soludo for his outstanding career and service,” Aburime said. “His citation highlighted his professional journey as a renowned professor of economics, former Chief Economic Adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo, and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.”
The citation also acknowledged Soludo’s contribution to strengthening Nigeria’s financial system and positioning the country as a leading economic force in Africa.
At the forum, Soludo delivered a keynote address titled ‘Africa Unleashed: Navigating the Disruptions, Enhancing Opportunities; The Anambra State Example’. He outlined ongoing reforms and initiatives in Anambra, which he said are designed to make the state a hub of innovation and sustainable development across Africa and the Caribbean.
