Station appeals to disco for improved power supply

The General Manager, Broadcasting Corporation of Niger State, Mohammed Kolo, has expressed worries over the erratic power supply to its station in Maitumbi, and office complex Shiroro road in Minna.

Kolo made his frustration known when he led management team of the station on a courtesy visit to Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) Niger Region Office in Minna, recently.

He lamented that in recent times the radio station was faced with challenges of erratic power supply which is hindering the activities of the radio and noted that the situation was not applicable to the station alone.

The Radio Niger boss maintained that necessary modalities would be worked out to reposition the radio in order to effectively reach out to the entire state in terms of information, education, entertainment as well as setting agenda for the public.

Earlier, the Chief Business Officer, AEDC Niger Region, Engineer Dr.Sammuel Odekina, revealed that AEDC is expected to give Radio Niger Maitumbi 12 to 16 hours power supply every day, adding that anything short of that might be as a result of network disturbances.

Odekina, however, granted 10 hours power supply to Radio Niger FM station, Maitumbi, for effective dissemination of information to door steps of every Nigerlites.

He described governor Muhammad Umaru Bago as a friend of power sector, saying the governor invested heavily on the infrastructure development that would assist the populace, particularly Nigerlites.

While appreciating the visit, Emmanuel emphasised that AEDC cannot deprive her customers of energy.
