DEPUTY Leader of Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Wantaregh Paul Unongo, has warned those fanning the embers of secession among the youth of the South Eastern States, saying the country has had enough of this Biafra reactivation demands.

This is just as moves to end the present agitations over Biafra began in Enugu yesterday with a meeting of five pro-Biafra agitation groups with the leaders of the apex –Igbo socio cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

The groups, which met for several hours at the national secretariat of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Enugu, unanimously called for the unconditional release of the detained Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

They insisted that Kanu’s release was one step towards the resolution of the agitation, which had for several days, recently grounded activities in the southeast and parts of south-south zones.

In attendance at the meeting were leaders of the MASSOB, IPOB, Igbo Youth Cultural Association (IYCM), Bilie Human Right Initiative (BHRI), United Eastern Congress and the Lower Niger Congress.

Secretary General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr Joe Nworgu said, “we met with MASSOB, IPOB and other groups to demand the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu.

“This is a follow-up to our earlier position a fortnight ago where Imeobi(highest decision organ) met and demanded Kanu’s release. We have set up a committee to harmonize the agitations to enable us speak from a common front. The committee is Ohanaeze Biafra Awareness Committee that will report to me regularly.
“The ceasefire remains to enable Federal Government open channels for dialogue,” he said, adding that a further meeting will be held after the court session on December 16.

Unongo gave the advise yesterday in Makurdi while addressing a press conference. He noted with dismay that the Biafran reinvigoration agitation is totally without merit but a desperate campaign by looters of the economy in the past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan to frustrate President Muhammadu Buhari’s good intention to fight corruption.

The second republic minister of Power and Steel, expressed disappointment that some youth locked up highways for hours in the east to caused civil unrest, wondering why the agitation did not take place during the time of the immediate past administration led by Goodluck Jonathan.

It baffles me because most of the people that I see in Oweri and other parts of the South East blocking the highways demonstrating are in the age ranges of about 20 to 30 years. These boys that are in the forefront for secession were not there 45 year ago, when the civil war was fought. So it is a thing of worry when you see people of that age who did not know what happened agitating for it.

Otherwise, where is the marginalization the Igbo are complaining about? Is it that President Buhari and APC administration have extended patronage to the five Igbo states they are talking? The Tiv man belongs to the fourth largest ethnic group in the country, voted massively for APC and Buhari yet they did not bag any federal cabinet position, yet they are not locking the federal bridge at River Benue.  I think the Igbo should check their consciences,” Unongo stated.

I am not a looter. I live comfortably in the United States. have invested well in the SE. I see the agitation as the right thing for the SE/SS people. Paul Unongo where were you during these years of SS/SE marginalization? Paul Unongo did you speak up when the SE properties were seized? Paul Unongo did you speak up when the Ibos were given 20 pounds and their money stolen. Paul Unongo where were you when states were created in the SE against 6-7 states in the other zones. Paul Unongo did you speak up when Oil blocks were arbitrarily awarded to Northerners at the expense of the owners of the land. Paul Unongo how much did the federal government give you to speak up against Biafra? No politician is sponsoring anybody. Most of us agitating for Biafra have seen that this contraption is not leading the SE/SS anywhere, and the earlier we as a people wake up the better for us. I have passed the stage of someone controlling my mind, and likewise well meaning people supporting this cause. One with a Doctorate, in a field has reached attained a level of academic authority, as such he or she can make sound decisions. Mr Paul Unongo please and a good please, be informed that Biafra is the right thing for the group of people agitating for it. If you are learned and thinking rightly, you should be advising the Federal Government on the need for a referendum, as practiced in the Western Countries. Biafra is in the minds of the people, and let no so called politician stand on it’s way or the cause will crush the so called politicians and their family members. We all know where each and every member of these so called politician and their families live both at home and abroad. Be it in The US London, Switzerland etc.

If you know something about Nigeria, you’ll know that the Biafran realization is the way to go. When you start hearing all these discarded and discard-able politicians saying stup!d things against your agitation, know you are on track. It’s clear Biafra is close at hand and since this is 21st century, the realization of Biafra has gone beyond what Nigerian politicians will lazily comment on. It’s good everybody is talking about Biafra today, especially, with the knowledge that today’s Biafrans are not the Uwazurike types, who can easily be sucked into the Nigerian mess. Hail Biafra!!

It could have been better to advise the govt to address all structural anormalies in the nation that precipitate ethnic separatist activism such as lopsided fiscal federalism. I originally thought paul unongo and other high profile commentators on this issue were intelligent enough to advise wisely .But an air of disappointment by influential dramatis personae wafts over the nation
