Subscribers on Friday in Abuja called on MTN to ensure speedy completion of the SIM cards re-registration which began since September 2015.
Some of the subscribers, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said that the exercise was taking too long and urged MTN to find a better way to speed up the process.
Mrs Amina Mohammed told NAN at the MTN outlet in Lugbe that the exercise was taking too long to complete, adding that she always met long queues at the centre.
“We are tired of this exercise, there is always a long queue any time we come; we do not know when the exercise will end because it seems to going on forever.
“This is the fifth time I have come here; please, we are appealing to MTN to find a way to end this stress,’’ Mohammed said.
Mr Uche Okolo, a business man, said this was his fourth time at the MTN office in Lugbe and he had not been able to register because of the crowd.
“I am urging MTN to try and finish this exercise quickly so that we can face our normal daily businesses; MTN is taking too much of our time,’’ Okolo added.
Another subscriber, Mrs Imade Osariemen, spoke in the same vein.
Osariemen complained that MTN was over burdening and bothering its subscribers.
She said that after this exercise, if she was recalled for another registration, she would refuse to honour the call.
“After this exercise, I will not appear for any more registration; this is the third time I am registering my MTN SIM; I am tired,’’ she said.
NAN recalls that MTN had recently sent text messages to its subscribers, directing them to visit its outlets to update their SIMs to meet the directive on standard by Nigerian Communications Commissions (NCC).
SIMs registration started officially on March 28, 2011 by all service providers.
However, MTN started a fresh registration to meet with the directive by NCC, which resulted to subscribers daily besieging MTN offices nationwide.
