Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has received the Torch of Unity, presented by a delegation from the National Sports Commission (NSC) ahead of the forthcoming National Sports Festival.

The 2025 National Sports Festival has been scheduled to be held in Ogun State from May 16 to May 30, 2025.

Speaking during the brief reception of the presentation on Thursday in Lafia, Gov. Sule welcomed the team to the state and appreciated them for bringing a message of peace and unity.

The governor said that the country needed peace and unity most, at this time and promised to support any initiative geared toward ensuring peace.

Sule added that the state would present athletes to sporting events that it had a comparative advantage to enable them to showcase their talents to the world.

Earlier, Mrs Ikana Mbora, Team lead from the commission thanked the state government for a befitting reception accorded them and promised adequate security during the programme.

She added that the festival tagged the ‘Gateway Games,”‘ would be an exhilarating experience and would feature a wide range of sports, including football, volleyball, and basketball.

She said that thousands of athletes from various states would be participating in various sporting events to showcase their talents to the world.
