Taiwan allays fears over China invasion, optimistic on trade ties with Nigeria
Representative of Republic of China (Taiwan), Ambassador Andy Yih-Ping Liu, has allayed fears on invasion of his country by China, saying Taiwan is battle ready against any confrontation.
The People’s Republic of China has been holding war drills around Taiwan, following the recent visit of the Speaker, United States of House of Representative, Nancy Pelosi, to Taipei.
Yih-Ping Liu, who addressed the media, yesterday, at the Taipei Trade Office in Nigeria, Ikoyi, Lagos, described the aggression of the People’s Republic of China as irrational, irresponsible and provocative, stressing that his country had been battle ready for the past 50 years.
He said Taiwan has been building its military power, and any assault from the People’s Republic of China would end like the Biblical clash between David and Goliath.
Yih-Ping Liu said Taiwan and Nigeria have many things in common and expressed optimism that trade ties between the two would grow.
