Taraba businessman on trial for alleged affair with married woman
A Jalingo-based businessman, Alhaji Husseni Kashimu, has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court in Jalingo, Taraba State, over allegations of enticing a married woman and engaging in an extramarital affair with her.
The case, presided over by Chief Magistrate Chris Jonah, was brought before the court by the complainant, Mahmud Usman Garba, a resident of Rafin Senyi, Jalingo.
Garba accused Kashimu of having an illicit relationship with his wife, Hadiza Sani, and engaging in sexual relations with her.
During the court hearing, a prosecution witness, Tahir Hassan, testified that Kashimu had admitted to the affair during a reconciliation meeting held at the palace of the Chief of Tigun in Kurmi Local Government Area.
According to Hassan, Kashimu had previously promised to end the relationship but allegedly failed to do so.
Despite interventions, the witness claimed that Kashimu continued the affair with Hadiza Sani, a mother of five children.
Chief Magistrate Jonah has adjourned the case to April 9 for further hearing. He also instructed the prosecution counsel, Danlami Shehu, to ensure the presence of the remaining two witnesses at the next session to expedite the trial.
