The management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) has expelled 31 students and suspended 47 others for various offences. The university confirmed this decision during a Senate meeting held on July 31, 2024.
A statement released yesterday from the institution’s Public Relations Office, and signed by the school’s Principal Assistant Registrar, Mr Oyelaja Bamidele, revealed the sanctions.
Among those disciplined was a 200-level Computer Science student, Michael Ojo, who was rusticated for the entire 2023/2024 academic session.Ojo was found guilty of forging his Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) to qualify for the Student Union elections.
Additionally, 17 students were rusticated for examination malpractice, five for making threats to life, and one for fraudulent activities. After thorough investigations, the university’s Examination Malpractice and Students’ Disciplinary Committee recommended the indefinite suspension of 47 students for various forms of misconduct, including impersonation. Ten other students were also punished for similar offences.
The Senate emphasised that affected students must stay off-campus to avoid potential confrontations with university security personnel. The university management reiterated its commitment to upholding academic integrity and discipline, warning that any student found guilty of misconduct would face severe consequences in line with the institution’s regulations.
