Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Pennek Court Estate, Kubwa, Abuja, Kennedy Nnadi, has appealed to the federal government to consider a tax rebate for developers to enable them deliver affordable housing units to vulnerable Nigerians.
Nnadi who made this appeal yesterday in Abuja during the official opening of Pennek Court estate, identified high cost of land in the country as the major factor militating against delivery of affordable housing units and called on the government to make lands available for developers to build on.
Disclosing that the group is delivering 85 unit of houses at affordable rate, he said that the company has employed a minimum of 300 Nigerian youths to work on the project as way of helping the government tackle youth unemployment and help take care of their homes.
He said: “One things responsible for housing deficit is expensive land. If government can provide land for developers we can build and deliver it to Nigerians at affordable prices. Some other way is to do a lot of tax rebate because it’s already a difficult terrain doing business here in Nigeria. But if we get some tax rebate, we can get price of houses cheaper and even build a lot more. Currently the houses is going for about N65million.
On issue around C of O, He stated: “I am not sure the issue of C of O is final, we are still discussing with the government, I think it’s a good ideal from the government and I can tell you everyone will have their C of O because the estate is already secured, we have all necessary documents that we are going to transfer to subscribers.
“There is too much government agencies to interface with when you are building, there should be a way to redirected the process like the TSA, just one government agency should be responsible for housing matters.
“No country develops without developers, government may have an ideal of what they want to do but developer’s drives that vision and mission. If government can support us by providing lands and tax rebate and try to protect our assets.”
