The SkillUpImo project, initiated by Imo State Government under the Ministry of Digital Economy and E-Government, has started attracting Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and other tech giants, which storm the state to scramble for products of the initiative.

Officials of Konga and Zinox Group were in Owerri at the weekend to screen graduands of the scheme.

The Group Head, Marketing and Communications, Zinox Group, Gideon Ayogu; Head, People Engagement and Administration, Konga, Mrs. Judith Ugwu and others were at the ministry’s Egbu Road office in the state capital to conduct interviews and employ graduands of the first cohort of the SkillupImo project.

Zinox and Konga, owned by an illustrious son of Imo, Leo Stan Ekeh, have, from inception of the initiative, lent support. Speaking after the interview session for trainees, the Commissioner for Digital Economy and E-Government, Dr. Chimezie Amadi, expressed appreciation to Zinox Technologies and Konga Group for their collaboration in seeing that the over 56 per cent unemployment rate in the state is brought to the barest minimum.

while, at the same time, addressing issues of insecurity.

While Imolites are being equipped with the 4.0 Industrial Revolution skill set, Amadi called for feedback and continued private sector partnership to adequately groom industry-ready citizens to offer value upon employment.

Ayogu expressed delight at the crop of tech-savvy graduands the SkillUpImo project had been able to churn out within few weeks.
Impressed by products of the SkillUpImo project, Ugwu commended the governor for his efforts at transforming the digital economy of the state and appreciated the commissioner for his hospitality. Positions interviewed for in the first cohort included digital marketers, phone repairers and programmers.
