Telecoms firms partner for digital inclusion

For digital inclusion in Nigeria, Itel has partnered Airtel Nigeria for customers to access 4G at an affordable rate.

During a press briefing in Lagos, the firms noted that the collaboration was driven by need to migrate 2G and 3G users to 4G.

Marketing Manager, West Africa 1, Itel, Oke Umurhohwo, observed that the firm has presence in 50 countries across Africa, Middle East, Central Eastern Europe and South Asia.

He said that the partnership allows customers access 4G through Itel’s newest mobile phone addition, A60. The phone, which is focused on Nigerian Market, the largest in Africa, offers 5000mAh battery power, 32GB plus 2GB, 6.6 inch HD screen and 4G connectivity. With Airtel network, users can access 5GB with N1,000.

Director, Cooperate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Airtel, Adefemi Adeniran, said the partnership would accelerate his organisation’s global desire for digital penetration.

“Inclusion is one if the key players of our sustainability agenda, so when we saw this opportunity with Itel, we took advantage of it,” he said.

Marketing Director, Airtel Nigeria, Ismail Adeshina, submitted that the collaboration would mutually benefit customers.
