Tennis star’s murder case adjourned to Feb 2016
The case, which was before Magistrate K. A Ariyo was mentioned as the court awaits the Directorate of Public Prosecution’s (DPP) advice on the matter. And the accused was also not brought to court.
According to the counsel to the family of the deceased, Mr. Chidiozie Bonaventure Obi, the matter is still pending before the court because it is waiting for the DPP’s advice.
“Now the court is still waiting for the DPP’s advice, after which we will know the way forward,” he stated.
He also added that the Magistrate court does not have the jurisdiction to preside over the case of murder.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based tennis star was reported killed in October by a policeman identified as Aminu Joseph, after an argument between them along Balarabe Musa Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Mc-Cleod, who had lodged in a hotel in the area with her daughter, Angel, was said to have engaged in an argument with the policeman before the incident happened.
The counsel confirmed that the accused person has since been in custody.
