Tension as gunmen kidnap two in Ondo
Fears have gripped residents of Ikaram in Akoko North West Local Council of Ondo State, as gunmen kidnapped two residents of the community.
The Guardian learnt that the abduction took place on Monday and Wednesday at two separate spots within the last 48 hours.
Chairman of Akoko North-West Council of Obas, Andrew Momodu, confirmed the incidents, lamenting that the town and its environs are under siege of the men of the underworld.
Oba Momodu recounted that the first kidnapping occurred along Okeagbe/Ikaram Road involving a Higher National Diploma (HND) graduate, Mr. Ade Gbodi, who was coming from his farm in Eda-Ekiti.
He disclosed that he was abducted few kilometres to his Iyoke-Ikaram home when the gunmen waylaid him and matched him to forest, abandoning his motorcycle by the roadside, adding that the family had been contacted to pay N10 million ransom.
The monarch said the second incident occurred a kilometre to where the construction workers were kidnapped recently along Ikaram/Akunu road.
