Kano residents are presently gripped with apprehension as a heavy deployment of police and plainclothes security personnel has mounted a blockade at the entrance of Kofa Kudu Emir’s palace.

The reason for the deployment is not yet known, but there is a strict restriction of vehicular movement.

It was gathered that Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II is set to host a stakeholders’ meeting today at the palace to discuss and take possible action on the controversial tax reform bill presently before the National Assembly.

The police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, was not available to respond to inquiries.
