Terragon Limited, the digital agency that manages Guinness Nigeria’s Twitter account, has apologised for an “offensive tweet” sent from the Twitter account on Friday.

The tweet, a reply to an earlier post by Johannes Tobi W., a lawyer (@Johannxs) and member of President Muhammadu Buhari’s media team, was sent during the BON-hosted debate among the running mates to presidential candidates of five political parties.

“This message has absolutely nothing to do with Guinness Nigeria and was not sent or authorized by the Company,” Oduntan Odubanjo, the Commercial Director of Terragon said in a statement.

“This is a full and unreserved apology to @Johannxs for the unwarranted message and also to our client, Guinness Nigeria, for the embarrassment caused by this matter.”

Odubanjo said the tweet was sent in “error”. He said the personnel, who made the mistake, will no longer have access to the Guinness Nigeria account.
