TETFUND links low ranking of Nigeria higher institutions to poor research output
The Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Prof. Suleiman Bagoro on Thursday said Nigeria’s higher institutions are ranked low at the global level due to poor research output by the institutions.
Bagoro stated this in Abuja at the inauguration of an adhoc committee created to deepen the Research and Development mandate of the fund.
Bagoro therefore sought the establishment by law of a national research and development foundation to encourage growth in all sectors of the economy.
He said such foundation when established would promote an effective interface between universities, government and the private sector.
Bagoro said the committee would help to create awareness on research and development in the fund and also building technical capability for its staff.
