Chairman of The Apostolic Church Nigeria (TACN) and Lagos and Western, Midwesten/Northern Areas (LAWMNA) Territorial, Pastor Gabriel Orpakho Uyeh, has condemned cases of corruption, giving the country a bad reputation.
He also decried the leadership deficit that pervades the land. Calling on leaders to eschew all cases of corruption in the land, Uyeh urged the political class to find solutions to the multifarious problems of the country and stop fighting over 2027 while Nigerians are dying.
He spoke at a press conference yesterday to announce the church’s coming 49th yearly international convention, tagged: “I know thy works”, to be held on Saturday.
Uyeh said there was much agony, hunger and misery in the land and reminded the leaders that insecurity remained unabated.
“Farmers in Benue and Plateau states, widely recognised as the food baskets of the country and most states of the South West, not to talk of the North-East are finding it difficult to go to farms.”
Uyeh called on politicians to know that a day of reckoning was coming, not just the election day, but the judgment day before the seat of Christ. He said they should know that God knows their works.
Uyeh said: “He knows those who are serving the people with sincerity of hearts, and those who are doing so just to accumulate wealth for their children’s children.
There is a need for all Nigerians, irrespective of tribes or religious affiliations, to wake up to the consciousness that they have contributions to make if Nigeria is to be better. The church on her part will not relent in upholding and speaking the truth, we shall not relent in praying for the nation, that God should intervene, touch the heart of the leaders and the people to always do good.”
As the church clocks 106 years this year, Uyeh urged the government to live up to its responsibility of providing security and good governance for the people.
