TimeAfrica Magazine postpones awards ceremony to November 14

TimeAfrica Magazine has announced the postponement of its annual TimeAfrica Awards, initially scheduled for Thursday, November 30, 2025.

The ceremony will now take place on Thursday, November 14, 2025, to allow for the completion and unveiling of the Who’sWho in Africa Bibliographic Compendium, a landmark publication set to debut at the event.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Editor-in-Chief of TimeAfrica Magazine, Chidipeters Okorie, said the adjustment was made to ensure the quality and completeness of the Compendium, which he described as “a definitive register of excellence.”

“The Who’sWho in Africa Bibliographic Compendium is not merely a publication; it is an enduring historical record of African accomplishment,” Okorie explained.

“It profiles men and women whose leadership, innovation, and service have made measurable impacts across governance, medicine, education, business, and public life.

“We want the unveiling to coincide with the awards night so that the continent’s finest achievers are recognized in print and on stage at the same time.”

The Compendium, expected to run into multiple volumes, will feature detailed biographical essays, verified professional histories, and curated achievements of eminent Africans across the continent and the diaspora. It aims to provide researchers, policymakers, and future generations with a comprehensive reference on leadership and excellence in contemporary Africa.

The TimeAfrica Awards ceremony, regarded as one of the continent’s most credible platforms for honoring outstanding service and innovation, will spotlight notable Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in public administration, health, law, and academia.

Among those expected to be honoured are His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Executive Governor of Kogi State, as Best Governor of the Year 2025; Olorogun Dr. Isaac Omavuaye Akpoveta, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), for Excellence in Public Health and Healthcare Leadership; Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, as Man of the Year; Hon. Andaye Rawlings Dagidi, Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State, as Best Performing Local Government Chairman of the Year 2025; Hon. (Dr.) Iliya Jatau Suleiman, Chairman of Kaltungo Local Government Area, Gombe State, as Best Performing Local Government Chairman of the Year; Mayor Dele Oshinowo, immediate past Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Lagos State, as Best Performing Local Government Chairman of the Year 2025; Professor Stella Chinye Chiemeke, Vice Chancellor of the University of Delta, Agbor, as Nigeria’s Best Vice-Chancellor of the Year 2025; and ASP Julius Robinson as Most Outstanding Officer of the Year (Crime Fighting).

Okorie reassured stakeholders, nominees, and invited guests that the rescheduled ceremony would retain its grandeur and prestige.

He noted that the dual event—the awards and the Compendium launch—would provide a unique platform to celebrate Africa’s finest achievers while preserving their legacies for future documentation.
