The embattled Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has vowed to challenge his suspension in a law court.

He said he had written a petition on the issue to President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently intervene to save the party from what he called avoidable self-destruct caused by the alleged dictatorship of the party’s National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun.

Speaking with journalists yesterday on his suspension announced by the South-South zonal branch of the party in Abuja on Friday, Frank blamed the national leadership of the party for the current development.

The South-South zonal leadership of the party, rising from an emergency meeting on Friday ratified the recommendations of the disciplinary committee to suspend Frank.

The Zonal Vice Chairman, Hillard Eta defended the decision while briefing the media.

In addition, he said the zonal branch would recommend his expulsion to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party for expulsion.

The APC on October 26 raised a panel to try Frank over a petition written against him by a member of the party from Akwa Ibom State alleging unpleasant comments against Odigie-Oyegun, who is also from the zone.

He, however, ignored the panel, saying it was not properly constituted and would likely be biased against him because of his criticism of Odigie-Oyegun.

Frank warned: “If anything happens to me unjustly in this party I will fight to save my position, I will continue to defend democracy, because we must start observing the rule of law in this country.”
