The elder brother of the late Timothy Oluwadamilare Adegoke, an MBA student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, who reportedly died under mysterious circumstances at Hilton Hotels and Resorts, Ile-Ife, has escaped a kidnap attempt.

The deceased’s brother, Olugbade Adegoke, told journalists in Ibadan yesterday that the incident happened in Eruwa, his hometown in Oyo State, around 9.30 p.m. on Saturday.

He said the suspected gunmen made an attempt to abduct him but he was lucky as some security men nearby rushed to the scene and chased away the alleged kidnappers.

Olugbade said: “I went to a store close to our house in Eruwa to buy things and after buying those things, I came out of the store and was returning home when I saw that some men came out of a car that was parked close to the place. The car was not parked there before I went inside the store.

“The men came towards me and said ‘he is the one, go inside that car.’ They started pursuing me.

“When I realised that, I started running away shouting and screaming and this attracted those nearby. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Eruwa tried and some policemen and Amotekun Corps who were stationed at a nearby place came towards me. Their response saved me from being kidnapped.

“The moment the men sighted the Amotekun officers, they jumped into the car and sped off,” he added.

Efforts to get reactions from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Oyo State did not yield success.
