Urge Prayers For Peace, Success For All
Millions of Islamic faithful in the country, yesterday, joined their counterparts from around the world to celebrate this year’s Eid-el- Maulud, the birth of Prophet Muhammed (SAW).

To mark the day, both political and religious leaders charged Muslim Ummah on the need to ensure peaceful coexistence, religious harmony, as well as embrace peace, forgiveness, love and sacrifice.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who urged Muslim faithful to extend love and goodness to one another and imbibe the virtues of Prophet Muhammed (SAW), expressed sympathy for victims of the recent flooding in Kogi, Edo and Nasarawa states, urging the federal and concerned states’ governments to take immediate efforts to mitigate the effects of the disaster and initiate measures to thwart future occurrences.

“While praying fervently for Nigeria to confront the challenges besetting her, we must also enjoin our Islamic Ummah to seek Allah’s intercession.

I sympathise again with the victims of the recent flooding in Kogi, Edo, and Nasarawa states and pray that Almighty Allah comforts them and their families.

The Delta State Governor and vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on his part urged Muslims to embrace peace and love and share the same among fellow citizens as the country prepares for general elections in 2023.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, Okowa urged Muslims to pray particularly for a peaceful and united Nigeria.

He further urged Nigerians to use the celebration for sober reflection and pray for tolerance and peaceful co-existence.

“It is a clarion call on all Islamic adherents to rededicate themselves to upholding the teachings of the Holy Qur’an in their personal lives and their relationships with others,” he said.

As part of the celebration, the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, took to his social media handle to express his feelings, just as he wished Muslims a memorable occasion.

He said: “On behalf of the government and good people of Imo State, I felicitate with the Muslim Ummah in Imo State and across the nation, as they commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW.

In Kaduna State, an Islamic scholar, Sheikh Tukur Abdulsalam, who is the Public Relations Officer of Fityanul Islam Nigeria, emphasised the need for peace and love among the adherence of the two major religions.

The General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna, Pastor Yohanna Buru, who led members of his church to the large Muslim gathering at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna, said that the celebration provided an opportunity “for Christians to meet, interact, dialogue, discuss and exchange goodwill messages with Muslims to foster peace and unity in the country.”
