Tinubu praised for declaring state of emergency on agriculture

President Bola Tinubu has been praised for declaring a state of emergency on agriculture in the country.

Minister for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, expressed his commendation at the weekend during the launch of the pilot scheme for the wheat season safety project targeting youth empowerment in Plateau State.

The event was held at Mangun in the Mangu local government area of the state. Over 5,000 youths from all 325 wards across the state are participating in wet season training for production.

The initiative aims to equip young people with vital skills in agriculture, improve food security, and boost economic growth in the state.

Kyari emphasised that the project highlights Tinubu’s dedication to food security and sustainable development.

He stated that agriculture remains the backbone of the economy, and wheat production is vital for food security.

The minister added that Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda prioritises food security, poverty eradication, and job creation.
In his remarks, the Gbong Gwom Jos, Dah Jacob Gyang Buba, declared that traditional rulers would support wheat cultivation in the state to promote societal productivity.

Bulus Dabit, National President of the Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA), expressed appreciation to the ministry for choosing Kombum District for the launch of wheat production in the state.

Representatives of youth groups from various ethnic nationalities and the All Farmers Association in the state pledged to work towards improving agriculture in the region.
