Tinubu seeks renewed support for armed forces

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare and advancement of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Speaking at the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day Dinner and Award Night, held to honor officers and commemorate the sacrifices of fallen heroes, the President praised the military’s pivotal role in safeguarding the nation’s security and unity.
The event, attended by top military brass, government officials, and other dignitaries, served as a reminder of the courage and dedication exhibited by members of the armed forces.
In his address, Tinubu, who was represented by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, emphasized the importance of remembering those who have paid the ultimate price in service to the nation, while also recognizing the strength and resilience of their families.
“The Armed Forces of Nigeria are more than a military establishment,” he said.
“They represent the cornerstone of national security, the embodiment of hope, peace, and the integrity of our dear nation.”
Tinubu expressed profound gratitude for the professionalism and dedication displayed by service members and called on Nigerians to take pride in their sacrifices.
He stressed the need for continued investment in the military, highlighting the importance of equipping personnel with the tools and resources required to tackle evolving security challenges.
The President also lauded the award recipients for their exemplary service, urging them to serve as role models for others.
“Your work not only contributes to the safety of our nation but also serves as a motivation for others in the armed forces and beyond. You are the lifeblood of our military, and tonight, we celebrate you with great joy,” he said.
Tinubu called for unity and collaboration among Nigerians to support the military’s efforts in fostering a peaceful and prosperous nation.
“It is imperative that we remain steadfast in our support for the armed forces and work collectively toward enhanced security and progress in the country. The road ahead may not always be easy, but together, we can overcome any challenge,” he assured.
The President concluded his speech by commending the Chief of Defense Staff and the event organizers for their innovative approach in hosting the ceremony.
He reiterated his administration’s resolve to prioritize the welfare of armed forces personnel, ensuring they have the support needed to carry out their duties effectively.
“Together, let us continue to honor our past, celebrate our present, and pave the way for a brighter future,” Tinubu said, urging Nigerians to strengthen bonds of friendship and mutual respect for the nation’s collective progress.
