Tinubu’s economic reforms yielding results – APC chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Architect Christian Asaga, has expressed satisfaction with the economic reforms initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that they are already making a positive impact on the lives of Nigerians.

Speaking with journalists on Monday in Abakaliki, Arch. Asaga highlighted the removal of fuel subsidy as a bold and necessary step, adding that Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has increased while inflation is beginning to decline.

He urged Nigerians to be patient and support the President’s efforts, noting that the challenge with the Nigerian populace is the tendency to expect instant results.

“The reforms are working. The problem is that we are always in a hurry to see results. But slowly, the results are coming, and people are already seeing the positive impact on our economy,” Asaga said.

On the state level, Asaga commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for what he described as remarkable strides in governance across several sectors.

He listed achievements including the payment of backlog gratuities to retired workers, settlement of arrears owed to Universal Basic Education staff, and recruitment of civil servants, medical doctors, nurses, and paramedics.

“The Governor has procured ambulances for general hospitals, provided SUVs for doctors to discourage them from misusing medical vehicles, and distributed hospital and medical consumables across the state. In the transport sector, he has procured 20 new buses and revitalized EboTrans.”

Asaga also praised the recent launch of EboCab and the introduction of 100-seater CNG buses for civil servants, saying these initiatives have improved the image of Ebonyi State and boosted public service efficiency.

“Honestly, Governor Nwifuru has performed above average. Think of the two new universities, the two-kilometre roads in every ward, the airport runway project, and the provision of duplexes for all traditional rulers. The list of projects is endless.”

On his personal commitment to philanthropy, Asaga emphasized that his support for the less privileged is rooted in a deep passion for community service rather than political ambition.

“Giving is not about having too much. It’s about the desire to uplift others,” he said.

He recalled that his company, C-Sagas, has a long-standing tradition of charity, citing the donation of ten vehicles during the company’s 10th anniversary seven years ago as one of many efforts not motivated by politics.

“I take pleasure and pride in helping those around me. Whether or not I’m contesting for office, service to humanity remains my priority,” he stated.

The Ikwo-born philanthropist further mentioned his contributions, including donating buildings to churches and supporting rural women and the underprivileged. He emphasized that his acts of charity are from an open heart and have never been about winning votes.

“When people benefit and share their stories, it spreads goodwill in the community. One act of kindness inspires another,” he added.

On his political future, Asaga said he is not considering any electoral position at the moment.

“The 2027 elections are still far away. I am not thinking of any political contest now. My focus remains on serving the people and supporting the government’s efforts.”
