Tinubu’s visit: Nasarawa police restrict movement, divert traffic in Lafia

The Nasarawa State Police Command has announced temporary traffic diversions and movement restrictions in Lafia, the state capital, in preparation for President Bola Tinubu’s official visit.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Rahman Nansel said the restrictions would take effect from 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25.

According to the police, vehicles entering Lafia from the Akwanga axis will be diverted at Mechanic Village in Azuba to pass through the bypass via Akurba and Mararaba Akunza, reconnecting with Makurdi Road. Similarly, vehicles approaching from Makurdi will be redirected at Bukan Kwato–Mararaba Akunza to link Akurba and Azuba.

Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro-Mohammed assured the public that security personnel had been deployed to ensure safety and order along all alternative routes.

The police appealed to residents and motorists for cooperation, noting that the measures were necessary to ensure a smooth and secure presidential visit.

“We regret any inconveniences this may cause and appreciate the support of residents and motorists during this period,” the statement read.
