The man, Elder Damis Damis, accompanied by three others, walked into The Guardian office with native beads worn around his neck and hands. Immediately he stepped in, the first question he asked was, who I was and where my colleagues were?
The Guardian, ThisDay and Nigeria Tribune share the same building on Ibrahim Dasuki Street, Jos. On what he wanted, Damis asked the government to order the Special Task Force (STF) Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) to comb the surrounding bushes and hills to bring perpetrators of the dastardly act to book. He threatened to invoke the gods and ancestors in the event of inactivity.
“I will not tell you how and when we are going to do this thing. Just pray that the government does something positive to the satisfaction of the Irigwe people, the victims of the attack”, he stated.
Sunday night, the quiet settlement was attacked, leaving no fewer than 10 people dead, who were given a mass burial on Monday. Meanwhile, the Irigwe Youth Movement (IYM) is outraged by the gruesome massacre of 14 innocent people, including a pregnant woman and a one-year-old baby.
According to its National Publicity Secretary, Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, in a statement, “this heinous atrocity was perpetrated by the combined operation of Fulani militia and security personnel attached to the Ari Do Checkpoint, Sector 6.” The movement also condemned the brutal attack, which left three others injured and hospitalised.
