Lagos-based fashion house Asotiayé has announced the launch of its latest collection, Blood & Sand, as it seeks to deepen its exploration of African heritage through contemporary luxury fashion.

The new collection, according to the brand, represents a significant milestone in its creative journey, drawing inspiration from Africa’s cultural roots and combining heritage-inspired silhouettes with modern design to reconnect audiences with ancestral identity.

In a statement made available to journalists, Asotiayé said Blood & Sand reflects its commitment to sustainable innovation and culturally rooted luxury, while encouraging a renewed appreciation of African history, culture and identity through fashion and art.

The collection explores themes of ancestry, mortality and continuity, using intricate designs, patterns and fabrics to convey stories of resilience and legacy across generations.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the collection, the brand’s founder and fashion designer, Jane R. E. Odemwingie, said Blood & Sand symbolises life, lineage and the inheritance passed from one generation to another.

She explained that while blood represents family, legacy and continuity, sand symbolises humanity, shaped by time and experience before ultimately returning to dust.

“Though life is temporary, its stories endure through memory and legacy,” Odemwingie said.
She added that the collection presents fashion as both an artistic expression and a cultural archive where heritage and innovation intersect to preserve the enduring story of human existence.

Odemwingie also disclosed that the fashion house collaborated with indigenous artisans and developed original textiles, including the use of Aso Oké, to celebrate traditional craftsmanship while adapting it for contemporary audiences.

According to the designer, the initiative underscores Asotiayé’s vision of promoting African luxury through sustainable practices and authentic cultural storytelling.
