Traffic nightmare on Apapa-Oshodi expressway leaves commuters stranded

It was a tough day for commuters and users of the ever-busy Apapa-Oshodi Expressway yesterday. The road was completely locked down as road construction work intensified on the road.

Driving on the highway has been a huge nightmare for motorists since the road reconstruction commenced on November 17, 2018. It’s more bad news, however, as motorists have to endure additional nine months of nerve-breaking traffic on the highway for the rehabilitation of the road to be completed.

The Lagos State Government in 2019 has appealed to residents, road users and motorists to bear with them over the serious traffic logjam currently being experienced in several parts of the metropolis.

Inspecting the road last year, Minister for Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, announced that the project would be completed by the end of 2020. But while commending the construction of the roads, commuters however frowned at the style of the contractor in charge of the road. They said the contractor is working only during the day and closing like civil servants only means that the work would take even longer to be completed.
