Tragedy as gunmen kill daughter of ex-Iyalode in Oyo

Tragedy, yesterday, struck in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital as Fatimah, one of the daughters of the late Iyalode of Ibadanland, Alhaja Amina Abiodun, was reportedly assassinated.

Tragedy, yesterday, struck in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital as Fatimah, one of the daughters of the late Iyalode of Ibadanland, Alhaja Amina Abiodun, was reportedly assassinated.
It was learnt that Fatima was killed by unknown assailants in the early hours of the day at her residence located around Bodija area of Ibadan.
According to sources, the suspected gunmen stormed her residence and shot her directly on the head.
A family source, who said she just got the news of the demise of her sister, said: “ I was just told that our sister, daughter of the late Iyalode Abiodun, was assassinated in Basorun, Bodija area of Ibadan. It was an unprovoked attack in her house given that Fatimah was a peace-loving person. She was shot several times by the gunmen.
“Her influence had grown over the years and she used everything she had to promote humanity. This is a big loss to the family. I don’t have more information at this moment.”
Contacted, Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso, said he would provide updates very soon.
MEANWHILE, the state police command has nabbed two siblings for allegedly abducting and murdering an eight-year-old boy in Saki town, Oyo State.
The suspects were paraded at the police headquarters, Eleyele area of Ibadan.
The brothers allegedly lured their victim into an uncompleted building and poisoned him, which led to his death.
The duo, Abdulrazak Waliu, 23 and Abdulrazak Illias,18, reportedly attempted to kidnap the twin brother of their victim for ransom, after realising that one of the twins could recognise them.
They eventually gave him rat poison to stop him from disclosing their names to people, which may lead to their arrest.
