Truck kills two students in Rivers

It was a gloomy day, yesterday, for parents of two students, who were knocked down by a reckless truck driver, while returning from school in Rivers State.

It was a gloomy day, yesterday, for parents of two students, who were knocked down by a reckless truck driver while returning from school in Rivers State.

The incident happened at Mile 1 flyover in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of the state.

Although the information on the development was still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, it was gathered that the victims were returning from school when the driver ran over them.

A source, simply identified as Mackinson who witnessed the incident, said the two students, whose identities have not been ascertained, were walking together when the truck crushed them.

He said: “I only noticed that the two students were walking closely. It is like they are related. The truck driver rammed into them. It happened under the flyover.”

At press time, the police are yet to apprehend the truck driver.

The corpses of the two students have been deposited at the mortuary.

The spokesman of the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, could not respond to the incident.
