
.Alimosho council leads with 25 incidents
A data analysis of emergency response for the month of October released, yesterday, by Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) showed that the truck/tanker category topped the overall incidents in the time under review.

According to the data, the truck/tanker category was responsible for 64 incidents, comprising 46 truck/tanker accidents, 15 incidents of breakdowns, two fallen tanker/truck and one fallen container incident.
Confirming the development, Head, Public Affairs Unit, LASEMA, Nosa Okunbor, said the agency, in performing its statutory responsibilities of disaster risk reduction, rescues and recoveries in the state, recorded an overall total of 1,211 incidents so far in 2023, with 145 of these incidents attended to in the month of October, 2023.
He noted that the road accident category recorded 48 (assorted) vehicle crashes, the Medical category recorded 12 assorted cases, while fire disaster category recorded nine cases, comprising eight fire outbreaks.
Other events category recorded a total of seven incidents made up of six various cases and one assault, while the building collapse category recorded three cases, consisting of one building failure, and two partial collapses.
He said: “However, while oil spillages/ leakages recorded two incidents, no cases of explosions, air crashes, nor marine incidents were recorded in the month of October.
“Data analysis of incidents recorded per Local Council in the month under review reveals that the densely populated Alimosho Local Council, with the largest landmass, recorded the highest number of incidents with 25 cases out of the 145 incidents recorded in October.
“Kosofe recorded 18 incidents, Ikeja 17, Apapa 16, Mushin recorded 15 incidents, while Oshodi-Isolo 13, with Surulere, Ikorodu and Eti-Osa LGAs experienced six incidents each, just as Shomolu and Agege councils recorded four incidents each, with Ibeju-Lekki and Ajeromi-Ifelodun experiencing three incidents each.
“Also, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, Ifako-Ijaiye and outside Lagos experienced two incidents each, while Amuwo-Odofin recorded one incident, while Epe, Ojo and Badagry councils suffered no incidents in the month under review.”
Okunbor concluded that data revealed that the truck/tanker category recorded the highest with 64 incidents, while the oil spillage/leakages category recorded the lowest rate with two incidents.
