Two brothers arrested for allegedly raping their nieces

The Lagos State Police command has arrested two brothers, Savior Philip, 35 and Paul Philip, 17 for allegedly defiling
 their nieces aged eight and 13 respectively, who were left in their care at Bariga area of Lagos.

One of the victims (names withheld) disclosed that the older of the suspects usually had anal sex with her while the younger penetrated her private part. 
She stated that Savior threatened to kill her if she told anyone what transpired between them, adding that he brought out some charms, which he threatened to use against her.

Investigation revealed that the victims and their mother moved into the one room apartment occupied by Paul and Savior five months ago, due to accommodation problem.

Explaining how she was defiled, the older victim said: “Paul started it. One day while arranging my sibling’s clothes, after my mother had gone to shop, he came from behind, lifted me and landed me on the floor. He covered my mouth when I wanted to shout. When he was done, he threatened that if I told my mother or anyone, he would kill me. 
When he finished with me, he would be ‘fingering’ my younger sister. He usually did it in the afternoon when most tenants were away.

“As for Saviour, he penetrated through my anus. He also told me not to tell anyone and that if I told my mother, he would chase us out of the house.

Two weeks ago, my mother heard me insulting Paul. She picked up a stick and hit me with it, reminding me that Paul was not just a relative but also an elder to me. I didn’t know where the boldness came from but I said ‘mummy you want to know why I am insulting him? It is because he has raped be severally.’ At that point, my mother descended on Paul and demanded to know the truth.”

When accosted, mother of victims affirmed her oldest child’s claim. She however clarified that the older girl was her biological daughter while the younger one was her twin sister’s daughter. She reported the case at the Bariga police divisional headquarters.
