Two children died yesterday, while eight other travellers were injured in two separate road accidents in Osun State.
Spokesperson for Ogun Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mrs. Agnes Ogungbemi, who confirmed the incidents, said a Howo Sino truck and an ash-coloured Premia Nissan vehicle, marked WEN 397 AA collided at about 2:20p.m. around 7km from Iwaraja Junction, Omo-Ijesa area of the state.
Ogungbemi said two female children died on the spot, while four other passengers (one male adult and three female children) were injured.
She said one of the vehicle’s tyres burst, adding that other causes of the crash are wrongful overtaking and speed limit violation.
She said the injured victims were taken to Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa, for treatment, while the deceased were deposited at the hospital morgue. Ogungbemi said two infinix phones were recovered at the scene of the accident.
In the other accident, which happened around the same time at Wasimi axis, about 15Km to Sasa Bridge, Gbongan-Ibadan road, Ogungbemi said a vehicle lost control due to over speeding.
She disclosed that out of the eight occupants in the black colour Benz ML350 Jeep ‘PRIV’ with number plate EPE384K, four persons were injured including two male adults and two female adults.
According to Ogungbemi, the injured victims were taken to Adeoye Medical Centre, Wasimi by FRSC team.
