Two die, nine injured as Ogun lawmaker’s car crashes into commercial vehicle

Two persons were confirmed dead and nine others seriously injured in an accident yesterday at Onipepeiye village in the Obafemi-Owode, on the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State.

Two persons were confirmed dead and nine others seriously injured in an accident yesterday at Onipepeiye village in the Obafemi-Owode, on the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State.

The accident involved a Toyota Picnic commercial space-car with Registration No, (LAGOS) KSF 957 BB and a Nissan Serena space-bus, marked 25 OGHA, allegedly belonging to a member of the State House of Assembly.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adegoke Adetunji, who confirmed the accident, said the driver of the commercial space- car had stopped his vehicle to change a faulty tyre before the driver of Nissan Serena space-bus rammed into it, killing the driver and one of the passengers.

Spokesman of the State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, also confirmed the accident, adding that the driver of the over-speeding Nissan Serena space bus was discovered to have been drunk at the time.

The FRSC Sector Commander explained that the injured victims had been taken to the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Abeokuta, while the two bodies were deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.The drunk driver of the Nissan Serena space bus has been handed over to the police.
