Abiodun Oyebanji has made a significant impact in governance, impressing the people of Ekiti with his innovative and dynamic approach. He’s been proactive, assertive, and decisive, disrupting the status quo and promoting a politics-free-from-bitterness governance style. Oyebanji has also built strong relationships with various stakeholders, including former governors, traditional rulers, opposition leaders, the Diaspora and ordinary citizens.
Governor Abiodun Oyebanji is a compassionate leader with a deep love for Ekiti State and its people. His humility, creativity, and passion for excellence has driven his administration’s numerous achievements. Oyebanji’s background as Secretary of the State Creation Committee and Secretary of the Ekiti State Development Fund has equipped him with a unique understanding of the state’s needs.
His administration has prioritized state security, establishing the Agro Marshall Corps to protect farmers and ensuring the protection of lives and properties. This has led to increased investments in the state. The economy has also received a boost from an $80 million support package for the Ekiti Knowledge Zone from the African Development Bank, as well as credit facilities for the Ekiti cooperative industry and women-owned small businesses.
The government has distributed grants of ₦400 million to 922 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and sponsored CAC certificates for 5,400 MSMEs. In the education sector, over 2,000 teachers have been recruited, and classrooms in 203 public schools have been renovated or constructed. The government has also paid counterpart funding for Universal Basic Education in 2022 and 2024.
In 2023, he set up the Diaspora Relations Directorate in the bid to account for, support and engage every Ekiti indigene even if far from home.
Road construction is ongoing in all 16 local governments, transforming Ekiti State into a hub of construction activity.
Governor Oyebanji has not let his foot off the pedal in sustaining growth achieved in the last two years,in his words ” we remain committed to efficient governance and implementing impactful programs and projects that will transform the lives of our people”
On Sunday, 16 February 2023 the Ekiti Diaspora Community will meet again at 8pm to discuss salient Diaspora issues, especially the current immigration situation in the United States of America.
