Nigeria’s logistics and supply industry, which is experiencing significant growth, received a major boost on Monday, December 8, with the commissioning of the TY Danjuma Logistics Park FZE in Alaro City, Lekki.
Located strategically near the Lekki Deep Seaport, the state-of-the-art facility, which is poised to take advantage of Nigeria’s growing economy and increasing demand for efficient logistics solutions, is set to revolutionise the way goods are stored, handled, and distributed across the country and the West Africa sub-region.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Chairman of TY Logistics Park FZE, Mr Theo Danjuma Jr., described the facility as “a purpose-built platform that solves long-standing supply chain inefficiencies and positions Nigeria as a competitive hub for regional trade,” stressing that the park, which is West Africa’s first grade-A free zone contract logistics facility in the Lekki Free Zone, will also position Nigeria as a competitive hub for regional trade.
According to him, the vision, which was born three years ago following the TY Holdings decision to invest in Alaro City with the goal of creating a purpose-built, Grade-A logistics platform that would redefine how goods move across Nigeria and West Africa, has today been achieved.
“Today, that vision stands before us — two world-class facilities with a combined 29,000 square metres of premium Free Zone space, designed to support the next generation of trade and supply chain operations,” he said.
Danjuma Jr., who is the son of elder statesman Gen Theophilus Danjuma (rtd), said the logistics park’s advanced Warehouse Management System ensures full inventory transparency, real-time stock control, and error-free order processing — critical for high-velocity sectors and essential for products with shelf-life sensitivities.
He explained that this technology allows goods to move faster, with greater accuracy and significantly reduced operational friction. “Our strategic location in the Alaro Free Zone, just minutes from the Lekki Deep Sea Port, positions us to offer unmatched import and export efficiencies. This includes importer-of-record solutions, duty deferment, tax optimisation, and enhanced regional distribution into West African markets.
“But beyond the infrastructure and systems, our true focus is partnership. We see ourselves not just as a logistics provider, but as an extension of our clients’ business — taking on the logistical complexities so they can focus on what truly matters: growing their footprint, strengthening their brand, and increasing market share,” Danjuma Jr. added.
He further explained that beyond the infrastructure and systems, the company’s true focus is partnership. “We see ourselves not just as a logistics provider, but as an extension of our clients’ business — taking on the logistical complexities so they can focus on what truly matters: growing their footprint, strengthening their brand, and increasing market share.”
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in his goodwill remark, noted that the facility will shape the future of logistics in Lagos and strengthen the state’s position as Nigeria’s leading industrial hub.
“This logistics park will provide a significant boost to Nigeria’s logistics sector, which is critical to the nation’s economic development. This facility will enable businesses to store, handle, and distribute goods more efficiently, reducing costs and increasing competitiveness.
“This park sits in the middle of a rapidly expanding economic corridor — the Lekki Deep Sea Port, Dangote Refinery, new manufacturing zones, and the upcoming Lekki–Epe International Airport. A grade-A logistics facility here will cut costs for businesses, support exporters, and create real opportunities for our people,” he said.
“This project aligns with our T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda to build modern infrastructure, improve mobility, and make Lagos an easier place to invest and operate. I commend General T.Y. Danjuma (Rtd.) and Senator Daisy Danjuma for their vision. Through TY Holdings, they continue to show responsible investment and confidence in Lagos.
“Alaro City is fast becoming a preferred industrial destination, and we will keep creating the environment where investors know that today is always the next best day to invest in Lagos. A grade-A logistics facility here will cut costs for businesses, support exporters, and create real opportunities for our people,” the governor added.
The Managing Director of the company, Arno van der Merwe, emphasised the impact the platform will have on the broader West African market.
“Every hour lost to poor logistics is a cost to businesses. This facility was built to eliminate those inefficiencies by providing a reliable, centralised, systems-driven logistics engine for Nigeria and the region,” he said.
Built to international standards and designed as a fully integrated contract logistics platform, the park marks a major milestone for Nigeria’s logistics and industrial sector by introducing a new operational benchmark for warehousing, inventory management, and regional distribution in West Africa.
The 29,000 sqm facility, which is located beside the Lekki Deep Sea Port and within minutes of the upcoming international airport, offers over 45,000 pallet positions, advanced storage systems, and a fully automated Warehouse Management System (WMS) providing real-time visibility and audit-ready operations.
