U.S., Britain, S’Arabia celebrate Nigeria on Independence anniversary

The United States, United Kindgom and Saudi Arabia have extended their congratulations to Nigeria as the West African nation marked its 64th Independence Day anniversary yesterday.
Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun; Wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima; Vice President, Kashim Shettima; President Bola Tinubu; his wife, Oluremi; Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Speaker, House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass; his wife, Fatima, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, during the 64th Nigeria’s Independence Day Parade, held at the State House Abuja yesterday.

The United States, United Kindgom and Saudi Arabia have extended their congratulations to Nigeria as the West African nation marked its 64th Independence Day anniversary yesterday.

“On behalf of the United States of America, I extend our congratulations to the people of Nigeria on the 64th anniversary of your independence,” Anthony Blinken, U.S. Secretary of State said in a statement.

He praised Nigeria for its dynamism and resilience in Africa, and its role in promoting regional peace and stability. “Our partnership is built on mutual respect, shared democratic values, strong people-to-people ties, and a commitment to fostering peace, prosperity, and security,” he added.

The United Kingdom also recognised its shared ties with Nigeria in its congratulatory statement. “We join His Majesty The King in congratulating the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the British Embassy wrote on X.

“The UK and Nigeria share a special bond along with the Commonwealth and we wish all Nigerians as well as those in the UK a Happy Independence Day,” it said.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia also joined global leaders to rejoice with Nigeria on the Independence anniversary. A statement from the Royal Embassy of the Kingdom, Abuja, said the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, congratulated President Bola Tinubu for attainment of yet another milestone in the journey of nationhood.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince/Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, extended the Kingdom’s heartfelt felicitations to Nigeria.

They conveyed their best wishes for the continued good health and happiness of President Tinubu while hoping for ongoing progress and prosperity for the Nigerian government and its people.

Meanwhile, in several towns in the UK, Nigerian flags will be raised to commemorate the October 1st celebrations. Barking & Dagenham, Leeds, Doncaster, Rochdale, Bristol, and Croydon had all pledged to fly the iconic green-white-green outside their town halls this year.
