
Multichoice Africa and its partner, Eutelsat, would on April 12 host the 7th edition of the DStv Eutelsat Star Awards, in Kampala, Uganda.
They are collaborating with European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut, Paolo Nespoli, who would lead the process of the continental awards assessment.
This would hold in Kampala on April 11, a day before the winners would be announced.
Expected at the event are government dignitaries, the academic community, scientific world and students.
Uganda, the “Pearl of Africa,” has produced more winners in the competition since it began.
In 2017, for his third mission in space, named Vita, Nespoli spent 139 days on the International Space Station (ISS) during which he completed more than 60 experiments.
Before then, he cruised on the 2007 Discovery shuttle mission, and spent over five months in space in 2011 aboard the ISS
He was also responsible for a range of science and technology experiments and educational activities.
A panel of industry experts, including the Dean, Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos, Prof. Funso Falade, would assist Nespoli.
Others are the Country Manager, ICDL Africa, Michael Niyitegeka, Deputy Regional Vice-President for Sub-Saharan Africa, Mr. Patrice Paquot, Eutelsat, as well as Operations Manager, MultiChoice Uganda, Ms. Patricia Kichoncho.
